Along with Raquel del Rosario and Juan Suarez, David Feito had the opportunity to represent Spain at Eurovision 2013 under the name of “El Sueñode Morfeo” with the song “Contigo hasta el final”, the band is one of the most beloved pop-rock band remembered in the country.

Six years after their participation in Malmö, Feito and Suarez with their individual musical projects, decided to join other names of the industry, to compose “Muérdeme”, one of the songs that compete to represent Spain in Tel Aviv and that Maria will defend at the special OT Gala on January 20th.

We were fortunate to have a bit of your time and in a very kind and sincere way, he answered our questions

OGAERLA: For us, it’s a real pleasure to talk with you and get to know a little more about your history, your participation in Eurovision in 2013 together with “El Sueño de Morfeo” and about the expectations you have with “Muérdeme” for the Eurovision Gala in Spain, let’s start:

Who is David Feito for the world of music?

DF: The only thing I can assure you is that David is a person totally grateful to music for all that has allowed me to live so far, and on the other hand, with a lot of desire and energy to keep making songs and enjoying things. that are coming.

OGAERLA: What emotions / feelings define you as a musician and a person?

DF: In the end I always think that music is completely linked to feelings. I think that in some way it is an amplifier of those feelings.

And it is also clear that when you dedicate yourself to something artistic you need to have a developed sensibility and in that sense, I believe that all these years of making songs have allowed me to be a sensitive person and be able to empathize with people when I write songs.

OGAERLA: You started your musical career with Raquel del Rosario but at the time your group was called “Xemá”, how was “El Sueño de Morfeo” born? (both the name and the group).

DF: The name of “El Sueño de Morfeo ” was took from a book that Raquel was reading about the interpretation of dreams, it came to our attention the figure of Morpheus. Morpheus, god of sleep was in charge of guarding the palace where dreams were made for humans. When night came, Morpheus distributed the dream to the humans and during the day he watched the palace with which he could not sleep, this is why “El Sueño de Morfeo” was something paradoxical and impossible. We kept fighting and got Morfeo to sleep for a while to allow us to live our dream: music.

OGAERLA: In 2013 you were chosen to represent Spain in Malmö with “Contigo hasta el final”, was it an opportunity that occurred alone or did they have it as a goal at some point in you musical life?

DF: No, in our case it was a proposal that made us both Spanish television and Warner Music.

OGAERLA: Regardless of the final result, what perception did you have of the festival and what changed after this experience?

DF: Having been able to participate in the Eurovision festival we will always remember it as a unique and unforgettable opportunity.

When you have the chance to experience it in the first person, you realize the importance that Europe has throughout what, for me, is one of the biggest music festivals of our continent. More than 200 million spectators and an incomparable audiovisual show.

We feel something like an athlete who represents his country in a big test.

OGAERLA: Six years later you were encouraged to participate in a shortlist in Spain but this time as an author with your former teammate, Juan Luis and also with Victoria Riba, Nuria Azzouzi and Rosa Martínez, how was “Muérdeme” born?

DF: “Muérdeme” is a song that we wrote a few months ago with the girls, and when we met we thought about doing something with a more urban sound and at the same time breaking with the topic of macho themes that is often associated with Reggaeton songs .

OGAERLA: Since “Muérdeme” was announced, it was almost love at first sight on the Spanish eurofans; the song was the first classified in the “on-line” process. Did you expect this good reception, what expectations do you have with this song?

DF: It was a very pleasant surprise because the YouTube video already has more than 1 million views and that means that the song has connected with the audience. As one of the authors I can not be happier.

OGAERLA: What characteristics did you searched for the person who sang this song?

DF: Well, the truth is that we had an immense luck that the song was associated with María. She is wonderful and is super involved with the song to take her more to her field. I think she is an artist with a special charisma and that if we are lucky that “Muérdeme” is chosen for Eurovision, without a doubt, it will be a candidacy that will not leave the rest of Europe indifferent.

OGAERLA: María is the singer that gives light to your song, did you choose her?

DF: The final decision of who gave each song corresponds to GestMusic and we have not had anything to do. Having said that, we confess that we are very happy that Maria has touched us.

OGAERLA: Have you proposed later to be the representative as a solo artist for Spain?

DF: I sincerely believe that now I would not be a good candidate as an artist … I hope to at least be able to contribute my bit from the composition and get Spain to improve in the final classification.
