Greetings Macedonia, this is Latin America calling, thank you for having a time for us and let us know about you a little more, let’s start …

Eye Cue started in 2007 but how was it?, tell us about your beginnings

– Like all the other beginnings. We were very excited about starting our journey, and we didn’t have any clue how things work 🙂

How do you define your music, what is its biggest characteristic?

– The biggest characteristic is not having a formula to define the music. Instead we let the music take us where it feels most suitable. We never predefine the genre, so if you listen only few tracks from our band, you might get confused by the diversity. But if you listen to more than 10 songs, you’ll acknowledge the secret ingredient of the melodic signature and you will go: “This is so Eye Cue”. So, if you get addicted to our music, you’ll never get bored cause we’ll sound like 5 of your favorite bands 

Was difficult to match as a duo or it was easy?

– In general, it is very difficult for someone to match as a duo. We don’t know the formula but somehow for me and Marija it worked instantly on many levels.

Taksirat Festival, Skopje Festival, MTV Balkan Awards … tell us about the experience of be in so many important stages?

– The experience we got from these festivals is of great importance for us. The growth of our career happened gradually, moving from small to bigger stages, audiences and events. So it really helped us built the confidence much needed for bigger steps in the future such as “Eurovision 2018”.

Why the name of ”Eye Cue”, where does it come from?

– Because it sounds like IQ, but it’s written in a different way. So, at the same time it sounds familiar and it’s easy to remember. And you get tricked by the spelling 🙂

Why did you decide to say yes to ESC 2018?

– It’s a great honor to represent your country at such a wonderful festival that celebrates the music and different cultures. Also, for us as a band it is a great challenge and also a big step forward into showing the music to such a vast audiences and getting impressions from different corners of the world.

”Lost and found” have a very unique sound. What is the message you want to give with your song?

– The musical message is that we have unique approach of musical expression and we really hope the majority will like it and the lyrics have a strong message too that can be defined in one sentence: In order to be found you have to get lost…and you need to go deeper.

The mix of different rythms is something we can listen in your music or it was made only for ESC?

– The purpose was not ESC, rather the song itself. I as a composer always tend to get the best out of the song. And then the song will find the right purpose. The co-writer Darko Dimitrov shared the same passion for experimenting and that’s how “Lost and found” was defined.

What have you ”found” and, what have you ”lost” in the way to Eurovision?

– We found that whatever you have lost can be found again 🙂

2012 was the last time your country was in the ESC Final, do you think you have what it takes to be back in the Grand Final?

– I think that beside us, few other participants from Macedonia had everything what is neededs to get in the final but somehow they didn’t manage to do that. Anyway it’s about time for someone to change the statistic odds 🙂 We would be really happy if we get to the final, and then to the top 10 🙂

What expectations do you have with your participation in Eurovision?

– To be heard from two hundred millions of people and to represent our country in the best possible way and to meet people from whole Europe and become friends with at least some of them 

What do you think of the fact that there are thousands of ESC followers in Latin America?

– It’s a great thing that events like this have growing popularity in new territories. So, there’s hope that the music is going to change the world in a better way.

Finally … a message for our readers

– Dear readers, thank you so much for showing interest in us. We promise we will surprise you with new music and we really hope we’ll meet you when the time comes for us to visit your region and promote our music to you. Stay tuned… 🙂
