J.L: I’ve always liked music. As child between ages 1 – 3 I couldn’t fall asleep with out listening to Stevie Wonder. Sorry mom and dad!

OGAERLA: What emotions define you as a musician and a person?

J.L: Honest, openhearted & vulnerable

OGAERLA: You became known as an athlete integrating the club IFK Växjö, what do you remember about this experience?

J.L: That period of time in my life gave me the tools in life to handle failure and the the truth of what it takes too become really good at something.  Without Växjö and this period I wouldn’t bee where I am today in my career.

OGAERLA: How was the transition from sport to the world of music?

J.L: Booth hard and easy. Music started too take more focus and attention in my life and so the day came. 2006 Swedish Championships 100m finals. Baang, my hamstring broke. I was told by the doctor that it would take 6 months up to a year too heal. During that healing process music become the answer. I think everything has a meaning.

OGAERLA: Besides being a singer, you are a composer and have written for renowned artists in Sweden such as Björn Skifs, Agnes Carlsson Sanna Nielsen, Anton Edwald, among others. What is your inspiration for composing?

J.L: The artist & life!

When I write music it has to be connected and tailor made for the artist. Just writing a song will never and has never worked out for me. So again my main inspiration as a songwriter is the person I write for.

OGAERLA: Which musical genres and artists do you feel identified with?

J.L: That is a extremely hard question..I learn as a person and songwriter everyday. And due too the constant changes in music trends it’s hard to just pic one or few. I would say that music & artists that makes me feel something is music I identify with.

OGAERLA: How do you project your musical career in the future?

J.L: At this point I just want to bee happy and live in the moment. And continue be able to support my family with the thing I love the most and started out as a hobby. Music.

OGAERLA: It’s not your first time in the Melodifestivalen since you participated in 2018 with “My turn” and finished third in the grand final, any memory about that opportunity?

J.L: That night My dream came true on national television.

OGAERLA: A year later a new opportunity with “Too late for love”, what is the story behind the lyrics of the song?

J.L: It’s a Romeo and Julia story. Frankly Im Romeo and Julia represents my career jurny. The title is the opposite too what the song says witch I like. In the end the song tells the listener that. It’s NEVER too late for love. Love conquers all.

OGAERLA: Any favorite song of the Melfest?

J.L: Last year “My Turn” This year “Too late for love” *Smile* 🤣🤣🤣
