Hi Mohombi, it is a real pleasure for us to talk with you, thank you for giving us the opportunity to know more about you.
OGAERLA: You are internationally known and have a great career in the world of music, but what do we need to know about Mohombi?
M: Well, I am a simple guy who is thankful to be able to use my talent to touch people’s hearts.
OGAERLA: Would you like to share some fact that most of the people don’t know about you?
M: I have 14 siblings, I am black & white, I am colorblind, and I am the son of a Congolese King.
OGAERLA: What emotions define you as a musician and a person?
M: Joy!
OGAERLA: You were born and spent much of your childhood in the Congo, what do you remember about that part of you?
M: I am actually very active in Congo. Last year I became the ambassador for the WFP (United Nations). I have joined the fight against malnutrition. It’s unacceptable that we are in 2019 and there are still children starving to death.
OGAERLA: Did you manage to easily adapt to your new life in Sweden?
M: Yes, I am 100% bicultural, speak 6 languages and proud to call myself an AfroViking
OGAERLA: You have achieved multiple awards and nominations such as a Grammy, a Latin Grammy and an MTV in Europe, what has been the clue to open your space in the world of music?
M: Personally, I just trying to improve my music & social skills Every day. Good music and good relations are fundamental for a prosperous music career
OGAERLA: Do you feel that having so much experience is an advantage to win the Melodifestivalen?
M: Well, experience is an advantage when it comes to handling the pressure. But it’s Still a competition, so everything can happen.
OGAERLA: You have also collaborated with Pitbull, Shaggy, Nicki Minaj, Don Omar, Juan Magán, Nicole Scherzinger, among many others. What have you learned from these collaborations?
M: I have learned that collaboration leads to evolution.
OGAERLA: It’s not your first time at the Melodifestivalen since you participated in 2005 with your brother and the song “Big Up”, How was that first adventure?
M: It was such a great moment in my career. I am very happy to be back and show what I have learned since 2005 🙂
OGAERLA: 14 years after your first attempt, you are once again in the race to Eurovision, how this opportunity came?
M: The timing was perfect, I wanted to get closer my Swedish fans and I had the perfect song for Eurovision. So, I agreed to join the competition 🙂
OGAERLA: Eurovision: has been a goal to achieve or it is just a chance to let the people know more about your music?
M: My childhood dream is to win the Eurovision
OGAERLA: What story is behind “Hello”?
M: The song was written by Alexander Cotoi, Linnea Deb, Thomas Gson and me…. we were at the Powerhouse writing camp in Dubai and decided to write a beautiful song 🙂
OGAERLA: We saw you in the first semifinal winning a “direct ticket” to the final. Did you expect this support?
M: I was hoping for it, but not expecting. You can never really be sure that People Will vote for you. I am so thankful
OGAERLA: Sweden in Eurovision: which one has been your favorite Swedish representative?
M: Euphoria by Loreen
OGAERLA: Eurovision and the Melodifestivalen has a large number of fans in Latin America, have you visited any of our countries?
M: I have not been to South America…YET
OGAERLA: Some additional Latin artist you want to collaborate with?
M: Yes, I am currently working with very talented Latin musicians
