Rebecka Karlsson will participate this Saturday in Leksand when the 4th Semifinal of the Melfest 2019 is held and we had the opportunity to interview her.
Hi Rebecka, it’s a pleasure for us to talk to you and get to know a little more about your history and your participation in the Melodifestivalen.
ORLA: Who is Rebecka for the world of music and what is music for Rebecka?
RK: I’m Rebecka and I think the world of music sees me as a strong and independent girl who can really get on stage. But offstage I’m a little shy. Music has always been my number one friend! It’s like a shoulder you can lean on!
ORLA: What emotions define you as a musician and as a person?
RK: I think that love, happiness and confidence describes my music quite right! And as a person I both hope and think that people find me both humble but with my head held high.
ORLA: You became known thanks to your participation in “Talang” 2009 and 2014 (Swedish version of “Got talent” and “Idol” 2016) Do you think that your extensive knowledge in the talent shows give you more confidence to participate in the Melodifestivalen?
RK: Yes I actually do! It has given me so much confidence and knowledge about how social medias and also how to take on a intervju. Melodifestivalen is something that I have been wanting to do since I was 4 years old! So the confidence for this competetion has always been here with me.
ORLA: Which artists do you dream of collaborating? How do you project your musical career in the future?
RK: I have dreams of collaboration with artists such as Ariana grande, nikki minaj and also mabe John deson. My hopes and dreams for the is to get my music spread all around the world and sing att the Ellen show!
ORLA: This year you will debut at Melodifestivalen, what made you play this door and what do you expect from this new adventure?
RK: I have always wanted this so that is why I decided to compete! This year is going to be so good! First melodifestivalen and then graduation! I expect to learn even more about the music and all off its goodness!
ORLA: Has Eurovision always been a dream for you?
RK: Yes it has! Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been very foun of it!
ORLA: “Who I Am” is the name of your song in the next Melodifestivalen, what is the story behind this song?
RK: The story behind the song is very personal! Its all about my growing up, that I have had support but also so many people trying to take me down! The song is telling people to stand up and keep on fighting! Because one day you get to show them who you are!
ORLA: What would it mean for you to participate in Eurovision?
RK: It would litteraly mean the world to me. It would be an great oppurtonity to spread both myself and my music around the world and I know that would have made me even prouder over myself than I already am!
ORLA: Can you tell us about your favorite Swedish representatives in Eurovision?
RK: Loreen, when she sang the song; Euphoria. She is so powerful and you feel every word she sings. Carola is also one of my favorite artists who has performed so well at Melodifestivalen!
ORLA: Let’s say you win the Melodifestivalen What can fans expect from you in Tel Aviv?
RK: They can expect even more girl-power, confidence and also love! I would show so much love through my music!

ORLA: Eurovision and Melodifestivalen has a large number of fans in Latin America, have you visited any of our countries?
RK: Sadly I haven’t but I sure would love to! I love to travel and it would also be an opportunity to show my music!
ORLA: What’s next in your career?
RK: To take on the world! I am going to wrote so much music! Start up my YouTube Chanel again and sing as much as possible!
