Hello Sofia, it is a pleasure to speak with you and have the opportunity to ask you some questions for the Junior Eurovision fans in Latin America.
First, Congratulations on having been chosen to represent Russia in Poland, here we go!
ORLA: In the context of the situation we are currently experiencing due to COVID-19, how are you and how is your family?
Sofia: Thank you, we are fine, I hope you too!
ORLA: In three words, how does Sofia enjoy and make her life more fun?
Sofia: I am playing with my beloved dog King Charles Spaniel, his name is Johnny. I am also painting, playing the piano and of course singing a lot!
ORLA: Do you like cartoons, what are your favorite characters?
Sofia: I really like to watch cartoons. There are so many of them that it is impossible to list them all. Sing, Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Secret Life of Pets … And by the way my favorite movie is Harry Potter. Hermione Granger is very cool.
ORLA: How does someone your age live and experience music?
Sofia: I really love to sing and do it with great pleasure. It’s easy for me because the songs come from my heart and soul.
ORLA: How is a day with your family and music?
Sofia: Excellent! My family is proud of my success and always supports me in everything.
.
ORLA: What do you remember from the moment when they gave you the good news of being the Russian representative for the JESC, any anecdote that you remember?
Sofia: I was very happy! Junior Eurovision is my dream! I tried to get into the competition last year, but I couldn’t. And on the second try this year everything worked out. I had decent and strong competitors. And I’m so glad everyone liked my song.
ORLA: Tell us the story behind “My new day”, what do you want to express with it?
Sofia: My song is about how you need to fill your every day with bright colors, kindness, and light about how important to hope, not give up, and not betray your dream.
ORLA: As is evident this edition of Junior Eurovision will be very different, will you be part of the delegations that will travel to Warsaw to record their performance?
Sofia: Due to the restrictions with the pandemic, I will not go to Poland this year. It upsets me a little. But safety and our health are most important now!
ORLA: How are you preparing for such an atypical edition in the history of the younger brother of Eurovision?
Sofia: It is a great honor and responsibility for me to represent Russia at Junior Eurovision. I prepare a lot. I study with the teachers of the Igor Krutoy Academy almost every day. This is vocals, choreography, acting! And of course, I’m worried, but my friends and family support me a lot.
ORLA: Eurovision and Junior Eurovision are festivals that have a large number of fans in Latin America, did you know that, what do you think?
Sofia: Yeees! It’s really great that Eurovision is being watched all over the world.
ORLA: Do you know any country in our continent or would you like to bring your music one day?
Sofia: I would very much like to visit the countries of Latin America. Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica … When the pandemic is over and the situation in the world improves, I dream of visiting these countries.
ORLA: Have you thought of collaborating with a Latin artist some day? who would be?
Sofia: This is an interesting question! Shakira is amazing and I also like Demi Lovato. It would be incredible to work with them.
ORLA: In the future, would you like to represent Russia at Eurovision?
Sofia: Why not? I want to be a famous artiste all over the world and Junior Eurovision is a great opportunity to show myself.
ORLA: Finally, any message you want to share with the JESC fans and with the children and adolescents of Latin America?
Sofia: I would really like to thank all my fans! Your support is very important to me. You help me not to give up and go forward, create new songs. I want to wish you to believe in yourself and in your dream! Then you will definitely succeed!
