Hello S!Sters (Carlotta and Laurita), it is a pleasure for us to talk with you, thank you for givin us the opportunity to know a little more about your history in the music industry and your participation in Eurovision (congratulations for winning the “Unser Lied für Israel” and be the representatives of Germany in Tel Aviv), here we go:
ORLA: How did you started, tell us about your beginning
S!: Both of us were asked by NDR if we could imagine singing the song “Sister” – first at the German ESC preselection, and if we were elected, also at the ESC in Israel. What a question! Of course we could!
ORLA: In three words: what is music for S!ters?
S!:A language without words.
ORLA: What emotions define you as musicians?
S!: As band like yin and yang 🙂
ORLA: Carlotta, you have a very broad experience in music, you won five categories of the German Rock & Pop when you were just twelve years old, you also performed in the NDR 2 festival and the Willkommen and you were a finalist in The Voice Kids. What do you remember of all these experiences? Tell us about your memories of those days
S!: I won the “German Rock & Pop” without expecting it – those were my first awards 🙂 “The Voice Kids” prepared me the most for what’s to come!
ORLA: and you Laurita, you won at ten years the ZDF’s Kiddy Contest, you worked as part of the tour of The Voice Germany and also, you are Lena’s backup vocalist. How have you lived all these opportunities? how all this experience helped you to grow in music?
S!: All these opportunities have given me the chance to see if this kind of job is right for me. And I was lucky to find out: yes, it is!
ORLA: What led you to knock the door of Unser Lied für Israel?
S!: Fate.
ORLA: How do S!sters came together as musical duo?
S!: Our voices have brought us together (fortunately)!
ORLA: Have you followed Eurovision for long time or it came recently?
Carlotta: We always watched the show at home. My very first point of contact was when Elmar Brandt took part in the German ESC preselection show with “Die Gerd Show” in 2003.
Laurita: It’s also a tradition in my family to watch the ESC. But as a child I always fell asleep – the broadcast was very late for me…
ORLA: What did you think when you were mentioned as the representatives of Germany in Eurovision 2019?
S!: We first didn’t believe it! To take part in Eurovision happens once in a lifetime (in most cases) … we are realizing very slowly that this is really true.
ORLA: Which is the main message of the song?
S!: Women empowerment!
ORLA: Laurita, as we mentioned before, you are part of the professional team of Lena (winner of Eurovision 2010 and hostess in 2011), any advice from her?
S!: Yes! Be yourself, don’t let anyone change you!
ORLA: Will be changes in the song before may?
S!: No.
ORLA: Could you tell us what performances from Germany has been your favorite?
S!: Of course Lena with “Satellite”.
ORLA: Eurovision has a huge numbers of fans in Latin America, have you visited any of our countries?
S!: No, unfortunately not. But we would like to!
ORLA: Would you like to bring your music to this continent?
S!:Sure!
ORLA: Finally, a message for all our readers in Latin America and beyond?
S!: Express yourself.
